Now that CES 2009 is over, I can begin messing around with my trial of SquareSpace. For those that forgot, [link] I signed up for a free trial for SquareSpace, a host and WYSIWYG web service for those who don’t want to bother with web design contracts. Despite the sheer intimidation of toying with your successor, I am staring at obsolescence with muted glee. What else can I do but adapt, evolve and love the progress?
The basic set up is simple. You are presented with a default template and relatively simple editing tools. The visuals are sleek and appealing; the editing widgets are quite functionally pleasing.
Structure mode is the section of the editor that allows you to add and remove elements from the page. Everything worked seamlessly and was relatively intuitive.
Despite the slick interface, this editor is not for the everyday user. There are sizing issues with custom headers and at the times the themes can be clunky and difficult to manage. I did what I could with a purposefully limited amount of time. Have a gander:
